India-Based Pipe and Tube Manufacturer Chooses Northwest Louisiana for U.S. Expansion, Creating 135 Jobs

by BIZ Magazine

MANSFIELD, La. – Global Seamless Tubes & Pipes, a prominent manufacturer and exporter of carbon, alloy, and stainless steel cold drawn and hot finish seamless tubes and pipes, has announced plans to establish its first U.S. production facility in northwest Louisiana. The India-based company is set to invest $35 million in the new facility, which is expected to generate 135 direct new jobs in DeSoto Parish.

Louisiana Economic Development (LED) estimates that the project will also result in the creation of 251 indirect jobs, bringing the total potential job creation in the Northwest Region to 386 positions.

“LED is dedicated to bringing jobs and economic opportunities to each and every corner of our state,” stated LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “This investment will promote growth in our rural communities while providing support to Louisiana’s oil and gas industry. I thank Global Seamless for investing in Louisiana and our skilled manufacturing workforce, and for recognizing the competitive advantages our state offers to expanding businesses.”

Global Seamless, which exports its products to industry customers in over 10 countries worldwide, aims to meet growing demand and build a domestic supply chain for North American customers in the engineering, oil and gas, and power generation sectors. The company’s Louisiana facility will feature advanced machinery integrating both hot finishing and cold drawn manufacturing processes, enhancing its ability to serve customers with high-quality services and products.

“As a natural gas hub and a key player in the international energy supply chain, Louisiana is a natural choice for our second production facility, our first in the Western Hemisphere,” said Global Seamless President A.R. Biswas. “This new plant will allow us to better serve our customers with a local supply chain.”

Seamless tubes and pipes, known for their ability to withstand high-pressure, high-corrosive environments, are widely used in industries such as oil and gas, transportation, and utilities.

Local officials are enthusiastic about the economic impact of Global Seamless’ investment. DeSoto Parish Police Jury Parish Administrator Michael Norton expressed excitement about revitalizing the former Hensley facility and providing more career opportunities for residents.

Construction and installation of the first production line at the former Hensley Industries facility are expected to begin shortly, with commercial operations slated to commence by the end of the year.

To secure the project in Mansfield, Louisiana offered Global Seamless a competitive incentives package, including LED FastStart workforce development solutions and a $1.25 million Performance-Based Matching Grant. The company is also expected to participate in Louisiana’s Quality Jobs program.

North Louisiana Economic Partnership CEO Justyn Dixon praised the collaboration between LED, local leadership, and economic development partners, emphasizing the significance of bringing back opportunities to areas that have faced job losses.

Global Seamless’ expansion into northwest Louisiana underscores the region’s attractiveness for foreign investment and its role in advancing economic growth.
