Registration Open for 2024 General Contractors Seminar by Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute

Baton Rouge, La. – Louisiana’s Contractors Accreditation Institute (LCAI) has officially opened registration for the General Contractors Seminar, a pivotal component of the state’s renowned training institute for construction professionals. This 10-week course aims to equip general contractors with foundational technical knowledge crucial for sustaining a successful business within the construction industry.

The seminar, which will be conducted via Zoom, is scheduled to run from February 26 to May 1. It will consist of two-hour sessions twice a week, taking place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Interested participants can register until February 23, with a $350 fee covering the cost of the course and materials. “The LCAI General Contractors course is a program to help any current or new contracting companies and their key employees learn more about the business,” emphasized Michael McDuff, Executive Director of the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. “The partnership of LED, LCTCS, and the Licensing Board for Contractors is a collaborative effort to help the construction industry build better and safer in Louisiana.”

Geared towards small and emerging construction businesses, the General Contractors Course will cover a range of topics, including print reading, building calculations, site work, demolition and construction, foundations, formwork and retaining walls, concrete and masonry, steel construction, finishes, roof structures, structural loads, related trades, special construction and equipment, fire protection systems, and safety codes.

Since its inception in 2016, more than 1,600 participants have graduated from LCAI seminars. These seminars, offered by Louisiana Economic Development (LED), the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, address the needs of the state’s growing construction industry. Other upcoming courses include the Residential Contractors Seminar (June 3-August 7) and the Business and Law Seminar (October 7-November 13).
