It’s no secret that podcasts are popular right now. There is such a variety of topics and speakers to choose from, and beginning October 5, the latest local podcast, On the Cusp, will premiere. Hosted by two local businessmen and Louisiana natives, Dave Smith and Matt Snyder focus on the how, when, and why we are on the cusp of great things in Shreveport-Bossier.
In 2013, Dave found himself spending too much time sitting in Washington, D.C. traffic commuting to and from work. When he was offered the opportunity to move to Shreveport and work in economic development at BRF, he didn’t hesitate. He quickly found that by moving to Shreveport, not only would his quality of life improve, but his twin daughters would benefit from growing up in the close-knit, smaller community. Dave is reminded of this life-changing decision every day at work when recruiting companies to Shreveport.
Matt is a lifelong Shreveport resident who has spent his career championing local businesses through his marketing company, Pinpoint Local Marketing, LLP. In talking to business owners every day, Matt has his finger on the pulse of Shreveport-Bossier culture, and he knows what it takes to retain the businesses that relocate to our region.
Through their working relationship, Matt and Dave have discovered that they often disagree on many things – how to run an event, market a new business, etc. Dave believes that we must focus on getting companies with high paying jobs to Shreveport-Bossier. However, Matt believes that the culture must exist before companies will relocate. Despite these differences in beliefs, they are able to find success through collaboration. While some may focus on the negative, Dave and Matt recognize and agree on what many of you already know – that the SBC has so much good to offer, and they want to share this information with the community.
For Shreveport-Bossier to succeed, it is important that we celebrate the positive happenings in our region. On the Cusp is an opportunity to focus on the good. The two co-hosts hope to expound upon their unique perspectives in conversations with members of the business community. Through this podcast, Dave and Matt hope to champion the people that are working towards building our community and applaud their successes.
