The past two years have been challenging for all business and industry, and we have seen many changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The strongest industries have found ways to adapt to the challenges, and Louisiana Tech University has found ways to continue to deliver an unparalleled educational experience despite them.
Our campus community continued to find creative ways to advance our mission of education, research and service – even during a pandemic. Our notable achievements during this time include:
Graduating over 2,000 students – including the largest class of doctoral candidates – achieving Tech’s third largest graduating class ever.
Helping our students achieve the shortest time-to-degree completion of any public university in Louisiana.
Connecting students with millions of dollars in aid to keep them in school when the challenges seemed almost insurmountable.
Developing the most qualified student body among public institutions in our state and a more diverse and engaged student body for our campus.
Continuing to develop exceptional learning and living spaces for our students research spaces for our faculty and partners, like the LTRI building that rises against the sky in Bossier City.
I am particularly proud of how our campus community responded to the challenges our University has seen since the April 2019 tornado plowed through our campus. We’ve reimagined and rebuilt. We’ve continued to grow our important relationships with communities throughout the I-20 corridor, all in service to our students.
We have learned much from dealing with the pandemic, and we will carry that knowledge and those practices and process improvements forward. We will be a better institution going forward.
As we begin a new academic year, our University is introducing Tech 2030, a new strategic framework to guide our growth and development into the next decade.
Tech 2030 focuses on our people, knowledge, and culture.
Our shared vision is for Louisiana Tech to be recognized as a pre-eminent public research university with an unparalleled learning experience.
To do that, we’ll all focus on work in three thematic areas:
Cultivating learners, leaders, and mentors for academic and professional excellence. This includes a focus not only on students, but on faculty and staff development as well
Creating scholarship, and advancing research and innovation.
Advancing an integrated environment enabling an unparalleled learning experience.
In a sense, this is already what we are known for – now we kick it into high gear. Our partnerships in Shreveport and Bossier City will continue to be paramount to our success as a University. Please join us as we enter an exciting new decade for our University.
