BATON ROUGE, La. U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy addressed members of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry on Monday, focusing on federal policies he said are aimed at job creation, small business growth and long-term economic expansion in the state.
“We want Louisiana to be a place where young people move to,” Cassidy said. “We already have the best food in the world, so that means making life affordable and creating high-paying jobs. Thanks to my work with President Trump and our local business owners, this is all happening.”
Cassidy highlighted his support of the Working Families Tax Cut Act, which he joined President Donald Trump to promote in July. The legislation made permanent provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, reduced taxes on tips, overtime and Social Security and included tax deductions for oil and gas exploration. It also mandated at least two oil and gas lease sales annually for 15 years in the central and western Gulf of Mexico.
He also noted his participation in the American Council for Capital Formation Energy Summit in New Orleans in October, where discussions centered on leveraging Louisiana’s energy assets to bolster U.S. manufacturing and maintain energy independence. Cassidy has introduced additional legislation addressing power grid resilience, increased lease sales in the Gulf and protections for permitting applications.
The meeting drew business leaders from across the state and included remarks from LABI President and CEO Will Green.
“The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry appreciates Senator Cassidy taking the time to brief our members on the key issues and priorities shaping the business and policy landscape of Washington, D.C.,” Green said. “His insight into federal energy, infrastructure and economic competitiveness helps inform LABI’s efforts to advance initiatives that strengthen Louisiana’s economy and support job creation across all sectors.”
