Community Foundation of North Louisiana names two new board members

Community Foundation of North Louisiana is excited to announce Wanda H. Thomas and Witt Caruthers  as the most recent additions to CFNLA’s seven-member Board of Directors. Thomas and Caruthers are  succeeding longtime board members Rand Falbaum and Margaret Thompson. 

Dr. Wanda H. Thomas, M.D., FAAP is a graduate of Yale University and is currently an Associate Professor  in the Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Shreveport, where she works as a hospitalist both in the  newborn nursery as well as the pediatric inpatient service. She also works as an outpatient clinic  attending in the general pediatric clinic. In the past year, Dr. Thomas began a new roll at the medical  school, serving as the Associate Dean of Admissions. Dr. Thomas has been the LSU Health Shreveport  AHEC Program Director for seven years, overseeing centers located in both north and central Louisiana, and currently serves as chairperson of the Diversity Committee for the National AHEC Organization. She is very involved in the Shreveport community – a place she has called home her entire life – and holds  multiple board positions at a variety of area organizations. 

Caruthers

Witt Caruthers is a native of Shreveport. He is a graduate of Washington & Lee University and received a  law degree from Yale Law School. After practicing law in Atlanta, Caruthers returned to Shreveport in  1990 to work in his family’s energy company, Caruthers Producing Company. Besides energy, Caruthers has been active in a variety of real estate development projects in the Ark-La-Tex. Since returning to  Shreveport, Caruthers has been involved in economic development, civic, and political affairs locally and  has served on numerous boards, committees, and task forces. The Community Foundation is thrilled to  welcome two experienced community advocates to their Board of Directors! 

The Community Foundation’s Board of Directors is made up of seven members who typically serve 10  years (two five-year terms). Since inception, 47 individuals have served on the CFNLA Board. This group  includes mayors, business owners, judges, educators, and community volunteers. Learn more about the  Foundation’s Board of Directors at cfnla.org/board.
