Shreveport, LA — Gasoline prices in Shreveport have continued their downward trend, falling by 1.9 cents per gallon over the past week to an average of $2.61 per gallon, according to a recent GasBuddy survey of 177 stations in the area. This marks a significant decrease of 32.8 cents per gallon from a month ago, and a substantial drop of 68.9 cents per gallon compared to the same time last year.
Shreveport’s gas prices remain lower than the national average, which currently stands at $3.15 per gallon—down 6.9 cents from last week and 26.2 cents from a month ago. The national average is now 70.5 cents per gallon lower than it was a year ago, signaling a broader decline in fuel prices across the country.
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest station in Shreveport was priced at $2.37 per gallon yesterday, while the most expensive was $3.19 per gallon, a difference of 82 cents. Statewide, the lowest recorded price was also $2.37 per gallon, with the highest being $3.49 per gallon—a $1.12 difference.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, commented on the continuing trend, stating, “Gasoline prices continue to crumble across nearly the entire nation, with average prices below $3 per gallon in 18 states. Diesel prices are also falling and are at their lowest level in nearly 1,000 days.”
De Haan also highlighted the potential for further declines in gas prices, noting that with the switch to winter gasoline happening at most stations, the national average could potentially fall to $2.99 per gallon for the first time since 2021.
In comparison to neighboring regions, Little Rock’s average gas price dropped by 5.3 cents to $2.83 per gallon, Dallas saw a significant decrease of 19.5 cents to $2.71 per gallon, and the Louisiana state average fell by 2.6 cents to $2.75 per gallon.
While most states are enjoying the decline, De Haan pointed out that refinery maintenance and outages in California have led to tighter supply and rising prices there, a situation he hopes will stabilize by the end of the month.
As prices continue to drop, Shreveport residents can take advantage of the lower costs at the pump, with more savings likely in the weeks ahead.
