Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) experienced a significant uptick in passenger traffic over the Labor Day weekend, marking a strong end to the summer travel season. Between Thursday, August 29, and Monday, September 2, a total of 5,749 passengers departed from SHV, representing a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
This year’s passenger numbers far exceeded those from previous years. In 2023, 4,823 passengers flew out of SHV over the Labor Day weekend, while in 2019, 4,898 passengers used the airport during the same timeframe.
“Labor Day weekend is traditionally a busy time for travel, and we are thrilled to see such a strong increase in passengers this year,” the Shreveport Regional Airport stated in a Facebook post. “We want to thank everyone who chose to fly from Shreveport.”
The airport’s positive growth reflects broader trends in travel recovery as more people take to the skies following pandemic-related slowdowns. The increase in passenger traffic also underscores the importance of Shreveport Regional as a regional hub, serving the travel needs of Shreveport and the surrounding communities.
As Shreveport Regional continues to grow, the airport encourages passengers to “fly Shreveport first,” emphasizing the convenience and accessibility of the regional airport.
With strong numbers for Labor Day weekend, SHV is poised to continue this momentum into the fall travel season.
