Col. David Martinez to Take Command of 307th Bomb Wing at Barksdale AFB

by BIZ Magazine

Barksdale AFB, LA – Col. David Martinez, currently serving as the deputy commander of the 307th Bomb Wing, is set to assume command of the unit during a ceremony on Saturday, September 7, at 3:07 p.m. in Hoban Hall. The ceremony will be presided over by Maj. Gen. Regina Sabric, the commander of the 10th Air Force.

Martinez will succeed Col. David Anderson as the commander of the 307th Bomb Wing, the only bomber wing in the Air Force Reserve Command. The wing plays a critical role in the nation’s defense, operating nuclear-certified combat squadrons and serving as the exclusive training site for all current and prospective B-52 Stratofortress aircrew.

Unique among Air Force units, the 307th Bomb Wing is responsible for running two bomber platforms: the B-52 Stratofortress and the B-1 Lancer. This dual capability underscores the wing’s vital role in maintaining the Air Force’s strategic and tactical bombing proficiency.

The change in leadership is a significant moment for the 307th Bomb Wing as it continues to uphold its mission of providing highly trained and ready forces for global operations. Col. Martinez’s extensive experience and leadership within the wing are expected to ensure a seamless transition and continued operational excellence.
