Shreveport, LA – Volunteers for Youth Justice (VYJ) is pleased to announce that W. Ross Foote, a distinguished Louisiana native, lawyer, and former District Judge, will be honored with the prestigious Hero of the Year Award on Monday, August 19th. The award ceremony will take place at The Harbor, located at 3004 Knight Street, Building 6, Shreveport, at 10:00 a.m.
Foote is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to the community and his unwavering commitment to justice and the arts. A graduate of Bolton High School, Duke University, the University of Manchester in England, and LSU Law Center, Foote has built a remarkable career both in and out of the courtroom. His work has included ad hoc judicial appointments, mediation, and arbitration since moving to Shreveport in 2010.
Beyond his legal accomplishments, Foote has also pursued his passion for photography, a craft he honed during his time at Duke and LSU Law School. His dedication to community service, coupled with his artistic endeavors, has left a lasting impact on Shreveport.
“Our mission is to provide a community caring for children, youth, and families who are in crisis,” said VYJ Executive Director Kelli Todd. “Each year, we honor a hero who embodies our mission and supports our efforts. We are excited to recognize W. Ross Foote this year for his exceptional dedication and contributions.”
The ceremony will include remarks from VYJ leadership and the formal presentation of the Hero of the Year Award to Foote, celebrating his significant role in supporting the organization’s mission and enhancing the lives of those in the Shreveport community.
