Southern Classic Chicken Expanding to Baton Rouge with Three New Locations

by BIZ Magazine

Baton Rouge, LA – Shreveport-based fried chicken chain, Southern Classic Chicken, is set to make its debut in Baton Rouge with the first of three planned locations. The initial restaurant will open at 3410 South Sherwood Forest Boulevard, following the recent purchase of the property by local developer Donnie Jarreau.

Jarreau’s company, SSF Holdings LLC, acquired the site last week for $550,000 from Giovanni Mucciacciaro Enterprises LLC of Baton Rouge. The existing building on the property will be demolished, and a new corporate-owned Southern Classic Chicken restaurant is expected to open within the next seven to nine months.

This expansion marks Southern Classic Chicken’s first foray into the Baton Rouge market. The company is also planning to open two additional locations in the area. A property on Florida Boulevard is currently under contract, with an expected opening within the next year. The chain is also scouting locations on Plank Road for its third Baton Rouge restaurant.

Southern Classic Chicken is known for its simple yet popular menu, offering bone-in chicken and tenders alongside classic Southern sides like coleslaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, and French fries.

Mark Hebert of Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate represented the seller in the transaction.

The upcoming openings in Baton Rouge are part of Southern Classic Chicken’s broader strategy to expand its presence beyond North Louisiana, where it has built a loyal customer base.
