Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Recognized for Excellence in Heart and Stroke Care

by BIZ Magazine

Shreveport, LA – Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport has been recognized for its exceptional efforts in improving outcomes for patients with heart disease and stroke. The hospital was honored with the prestigious Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) awards by the American Heart Association, acknowledging its commitment to providing high-quality, research-based care.

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport received the GWTG Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award, along with placement on the Target Stroke Elite Honor Roll and Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. These accolades highlight the hospital’s adherence to the latest treatment protocols and its dedication to improving patient outcomes in critical areas such as stroke care and diabetes management.

“Care for stroke and cardiac events requires immediate and precise intervention to save lives and enhance outcomes,” said Dr. Robert Hart, chief physician executive at Ochsner Health. “At Ochsner Health, our teams understand that every second counts. This recognition serves as a testament to the dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment of our team members to provide exceptional care to our community.”

The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® initiative aims to ensure that all patients have access to lifesaving care by promoting up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines. Hospitals that consistently follow these guidelines are recognized for their excellence in various categories, including stroke care, heart failure treatment, and resuscitation efforts.

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport’s recognition is part of a broader achievement for Ochsner Health, with a total of twelve hospitals within the Ochsner network being honored by the American Heart Association this year.

“Every 40 seconds, someone in America has a stroke or heart attack,” said Michele Bolles, American Heart Association senior vice president of quality, outcomes research, and analytics. “High-quality care should be accessible to all, and sites awarded through the Get With The Guidelines program help work toward our shared vision of health and hope for everyone, everywhere.”
