The Cordish Companies has announced an exciting partnership with the Shreveport and Bossier Arts Councils to spotlight local artistic talent within its upcoming $270+ million Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana project. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2025, the new entertainment hub will be the first land-based casino in the Shreveport-Bossier market, located in the East Bank Cultural District of Bossier City.
As part of this partnership, an Open Artist Call has been issued to artists across Northwest Louisiana, inviting them to submit concept artwork that captures the spirit of Live! Casino’s vibrant entertainment, gaming, dining, and nightlife experience. The selected works will be displayed prominently in the pre-function area of the casino’s 25,000-square-foot Event Center, a state-of-the-art venue designed for top-tier entertainment, meetings, conventions, and social gatherings.
“Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana is committed to supporting the local community and celebrating the rich culture of the Shreveport-Bossier area,” said John Chaszar, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana. “By partnering with the Bossier and Shreveport Arts Councils, we’re providing a unique platform for local artists to showcase their work and contribute to the vibrant atmosphere we’re creating.”
The Open Artist Call is open to artists from Region 7, which includes Bossier, Caddo, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, DeSoto, Red River, Sabine, and Natchitoches parishes. Eligible artists must be listed on Culturalyst and can submit original, frameable artwork in any medium, measuring 36” x 36”. An anonymous panel, consisting of Live! Casino representatives and professional artists, will select 12 artists to bring their concepts to life. Each chosen artist will receive a $1,000 commission for their work.
The deadline for submissions is 4:00 PM on September 13, 2024. Artists can submit their concepts in person at the Bossier Arts Council or digitally via the Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s Submittable platform. Selected artwork will be displayed on screens as large as 65 inches, so digital submissions should be of high resolution to ensure clarity and impact.
Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will feature over 47,000 square feet of gaming space, including more than 1,000 slots and electronic table games, 40 live-action table games, and a sportsbook. The upscale property will also include a 550-room hotel, resort pool, fitness center, RV park, and a variety of dining and entertainment venues.
For more information on the Open Artist Call, interested parties can contact Rebecca Bonnevier, Executive Director of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, or Brittainy Pope, Executive Director of the Bossier Arts Council.
The Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana project promises to be a significant cultural and economic boost for the region, bringing together the best of local talent and world-class entertainment.
