SHREVEPORT, La. – Average gasoline prices in Shreveport have increased by 6.6 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $2.90 per gallon, according to a recent survey conducted by GasBuddy of 177 stations in the area. Despite the weekly increase, prices in Shreveport remain 14.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and are down 46.4 cents per gallon compared to the same period last year.
According to GasBuddy’s data, the lowest recorded price at a Shreveport station yesterday was $2.71 per gallon, while the highest was $3.09 per gallon, marking a price difference of 38 cents. Statewide, the lowest price was reported at $2.04 per gallon, while the highest reached $3.59 per gallon—a $1.55 difference.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline has decreased by 3.2 cents per gallon over the last week, now standing at $3.41 per gallon. This national average is 11.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 42.5 cents per gallon lower than the same time last year. Diesel prices, meanwhile, have dropped by 3.4 cents per gallon, reaching their lowest level since January 2022 at $3.72 per gallon.
“As the summer driving season comes to a gradual close, we continue to see gasoline prices declining in most of the country as demand remains muted,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Incredibly, the drop has also caused diesel fuel prices to crumble to their lowest level since before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. As long as we can avoid a major hurricane threatening refineries in the Gulf region, I believe we could see declines continue into this week, with the national average potentially dipping to its lowest level of the summer.”
Neighboring areas have also seen varied trends in gasoline prices. In Little Rock, prices decreased by 1.6 cents per gallon to $2.99 per gallon, while Dallas saw a more significant drop of 14.7 cents per gallon, bringing the average there to $2.97 per gallon. Louisiana’s statewide average saw a modest decline of 1.1 cents, bringing the average to $2.96 per gallon.
