by BIZ Magazine

BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Bossier Chamber of Commerce will host Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry for his first visit to Bossier Parish since being elected as the state’s 57th governor. The event is scheduled for August 20, 2024, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Bossier Civic Center.

Governor Landry will deliver a State of the State Address, where he will outline his key agenda items and initiatives that aim to shape Louisiana’s economic, social, and infrastructural landscape. Attendees will gain firsthand insights into the governor’s achievements during the two special and one regular session this year, as well as what lies ahead for the state.

“We think it is important to bring our state elected officials to Northwest Louisiana to speak directly to our business community,” said Lisa Johnson, President/CEO of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce. “In order for Louisiana to prosper, all of Louisiana must be taken into account. The best way to make sure our needs in the northern part of the state are heard is to bring these officials here to see our businesses, our towns, our cities, our successes, and our potential.”

The State of the State Address is part of the Bossier Chamber’s fall Public Policy Series, which features key officials discussing changes and upcoming proposals that will impact employers, employees, and residents of Louisiana. The series includes notable state-level speakers, with an additional event featuring U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.

The Public Policy Series is supported by presenting sponsor Willis Knighton Health System and additional sponsors including Chesapeake Energy, Live! Casino Hotel Louisiana, Ochsner LSU Health, and Rose-Neath/Kilpatrick.

Full Public Policy Series Schedule:

  • August 20 – State of the State Luncheon with Governor Jeff Landry
  • August 27 – Breakfast with U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D.
  • October 17 – Luncheon with Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple
  • October 22 – Breakfast with Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley

“It is no secret that Louisiana has seen an outmigration of residents while other Southern states are growing in population. That’s why we think it is of the utmost importance to bring leaders like the governor and the insurance commissioner to town so that changes—and proposed changes—in policy can be relayed directly to those it will affect most—YOU!” said Jonathan Reynolds, Chairman of the Board, Bossier Chamber of Commerce.
