Shreveport-Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission Announces Community Workshops for Master Plan Update

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Shreveport-Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) has scheduled three Community Workshops to engage residents and gather feedback for the One Shreveport – 2024 Master Plan Update. The workshops will take place at Riverview Hall downtown from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Saturday, September 14, 2024
  • Saturday, November 2, 2024
  • Saturday, December 14, 2024

Shreveport citizens are encouraged to attend all three meetings to share their perspectives and contribute to the Master Plan update. Each workshop will feature interactive activities aimed at understanding the community’s vision, developing strategies for equitable development and land use planning, and refining plan recommendations and implementation strategies.

Workshop Schedule and Focus:

Community Workshop #1 | Understand Workshop

  • Date: Saturday, September 14, 2024
  • Focus: This workshop will introduce the community’s priorities and aspirations for Shreveport’s future. Attendees will learn about the 2030 Master Plan and participate in visioning exercises to ensure that the updated plan aligns with current community needs.

Community Workshop #2 | Envision Workshop

  • Date: Saturday, November 2, 2024
  • Focus: Building on themes from the first workshop, this session will delve into land use and development issues. Participants will explore the connections between development, housing, economic opportunities, transportation, and open space, along with their historical context. Feedback from this workshop will help shape the Equitable Development Strategy and a Preferred Land Use Concept.

Community Workshop #3 | Act Workshop

  • Date: Saturday, December 14, 2024
  • Focus: The final workshop will refine key recommendations, including the revised Future Land Use Map and Implementation Strategy. Community members will identify opportunities for implementing the plan’s goals through volunteer efforts, not-for-profit initiatives, and private-sector cooperation.
