BOSSIER CITY, La. – Bossier Parish Community College’s (BPCC) Division of Business and Information Technology (BIT) is excited to announce BIT Family Day, scheduled for Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at BPCC’s Bossier Campus, located at 6220 East Texas Street. This event aims to foster community engagement and celebrate the beginning of a new academic year, featuring the introduction of the new Dean, Quentin Calhoun.
Dean Calhoun, who brings extensive experience and a student-focused vision to BPCC, emphasized the importance of student recruitment, retention, and success across all BIT programs. “Our students are at the heart of everything we do. We understand the challenges students face, and we’re committed to their growth and achievement,” Calhoun stated.
BIT Family Day attendees can look forward to a variety of informative sessions and activities, including:
- Fall semester registration opportunities
- Presentations on campus resources available to students
- Tours of the Cavalier Care Center
- Information on enrolling in the Fiber Optic Initiative cohort, which includes tuition assistance and a monthly stipend
Dean Calhoun highlighted the success of the Fiber Optic Initiative, noting, “We are seeing an incredible response to our Fiber Optic Initiative, reflecting the strong demand and interest in this cutting-edge program. In light of this overwhelming interest, we are excited to announce that we will expand this initiative to include 15 additional students who are not part of the College Transition Programs.”
The Division of Business and Information Technology encompasses a range of programs including Business, Information Technology, Culinary Arts, and Cosmetology. BPCC offers associate degrees in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Culinary Arts, Cyber Security, Health Care Management (Health Studies) and (Professional Practice), Louisiana Transfer (Business), Software Development, Systems Administration (Cloud Computing) and (DevOps), along with various short-term certificate and technical programs.
