Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Announces Online Tax Sale for Unpaid 2023 Property Taxes

by BIZ Magazine

Shreveport, LA — The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) has announced an upcoming online tax sale for any unpaid 2023 property taxes exceeding $10. The sale is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, and will take place on the CivicSource website at www.civicsource.com.

Deputy Susan Johnson, manager of the CPSO Tax Department, emphasized the importance of verifying tax payments. “Please check your taxes to verify they are paid,” Johnson advised. “Many unforeseen things can happen: the payment may not have been received, it may have been received late, leaving a balance, or the homestead exemption may have been removed, causing parish taxes for the first time in years.”

Johnson also highlighted a common misconception among homeowners. “Sometimes homeowners assume their taxes have been paid by their mortgage company, but verifying that taxes are paid each year is always a good idea,” she said.

To assist homeowners in verifying their tax status, the CPSO provides several options. Homeowners can call 318-681-0638 or visit the CPSO website at www.caddosheriff.org. Property owners can also pay their taxes online at the CPSO website, by phone at 833-538-8539, or in person at the CPSO Tax Office located inside the Caddo Courthouse, 501 Texas St. – Room 101 in Shreveport. The deadline for tax payments is 5 p.m. on June 3. Accepted payment methods include cash, credit card, cashier’s check, or money order. Personal checks are not accepted.

For those interested in participating in the online tax sale or seeking more information on the Louisiana tax title sale process, upcoming auctions, and a complete listing of properties slated for the 2024 tax sale, detailed information is available at CivicSource’s website.

This initiative by the CPSO underscores the importance of timely property tax payments and offers multiple convenient methods for residents to ensure their taxes are up to date, thereby avoiding the potential loss of property through the tax sale process.
