LSU Health Shreveport to Host Annual Cultural Festival

LSU Health Shreveport’s Office for Diversity Affairs is set to host its annual Cultural Festival on Friday, April 26. This eagerly anticipated event has become a cherished tradition on campus, providing a platform for faculty, staff, and students to come together and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that thrive within the LSU Health Shreveport community.

The Cultural Festival serves as an invaluable opportunity for individuals to showcase their cultural heritage through customs, beliefs, attire, arts, and values. With over 50 diverse cultures represented on campus, the event promises to be a vibrant and inclusive celebration of unity in diversity.

Scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the festival will feature a myriad of activities and attractions aimed at fostering cultural exchange and appreciation. Attendees can explore cultural display tables showcasing artifacts and traditions from around the world, participate in the “Culture on the Runway” Fashion Show to admire the beauty of global attire, and indulge in the intricate art of henna painting.

Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to join a lively line dancing session, immerse themselves in a captivating musical performance, and engage with an enlightening exhibit titled “Opening Doors: Contemporary African American Academic Surgeons Display.” This exhibit serves as a testament to the contributions and achievements of African American professionals in the medical field, highlighting their pivotal role in shaping the landscape of academic surgery.
