Bossier Chamber of Commerce to Host Annual Salute to Community Heroes Event

he Bossier Chamber of Commerce has announced its upcoming event, the Salute to Community Heroes, scheduled for May 15, 2024, at Margaritaville Resort Casino. Presented by Willis-Knighton Health System in partnership with Barksdale Federal Credit Union, the event aims to honor outstanding individuals from various sectors within the community, including healthcare, first responders, military, educators, and non-profit organizations.

The Salute to Community Heroes event will commence at 8 a.m. and feature keynote speakers Russ Mathers, Director of STRIKEWERX Innovation Hub, and Warren Ward, Chief of Staff at Louisiana Tech Research Institute.

Highlighting the exemplary contributions of community heroes, the event will recognize finalists in six categories: Education, First Responders, Healthcare, Military, and Non-Profit. Each category features deserving nominees who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the community.

The finalists in the Education category include Dr. Tracey Burrell from Bossier Parish Schools, Karen Recchia from Bossier Parish Community College, Lindsey Tuberville from Calvary Baptist Academy, and Tammy Reyna from Kingston Elementary.

In the First Responders category, notable finalists include Deputy Camellia Williams from Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Captain Aaron Naquin from Shreveport Fire Department, Corporal Cody Smith from Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, and David Bonillas from Shreveport Police Department, among others.

Healthcare finalists include Danny Talley from the STAR Program at Brentwood Hospital, Laura Alderman Baxter from LSU Health Shreveport, and Terry Jones from Willis Knighton Health Bossier.

Sergeant Joseph Apple from the U.S. Army 602nd MP CO and Tommie Andres from Barksdale Air Force Base Defense Commissary Agency are among the finalists in the Military category.

Angie White from North Louisiana Economic Partnership, Justin Haigler from Simple Church, and Mark Rodie from Men of Courage Louisiana are recognized finalists in the Non-Profit category.

The event will culminate with the announcement of winners in each category. Attendees can purchase tickets and tables for the Salute to Community Heroes event on the Bossier Chamber of Commerce website.
