The Arc Caddo-Bossier Marks 70th Anniversary with Vibrant Downtown Celebration

by BIZ Magazine

Shreveport, LA – In 1954, a vision took root among a group of parents determined to create a better future for their children with disabilities. This dream blossomed into The Arc Caddo-Bossier, an organization dedicated to nurturing the development and supporting the needs of individuals with disabilities and their families. Now, seven decades later, The Arc Caddo-Bossier continues its mission, and in celebration of this significant milestone, it will host a grand 70th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Set against the backdrop of Festival Plaza at 101 Crockett Street in downtown Shreveport, this family-friendly event promises an array of entertainment and activities from 11am to 3pm. Attendees will be treated to live performances by the local band Airheart, known for their versatile repertoire spanning rock, pop, folk, and R&B. Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Drumline and Jazz Band of Southwood High School will lead a spirited Second Line entrance, setting the stage for an unforgettable day.

Louisiana Dan will dazzle audiences with his magical prowess, while Grice and Grace Farms of Louisiana will provide a delightful petting zoo experience. Inflatables, engaging activities, and tantalizing food offerings will ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy. A brief program during the event will honor founding families, recognize major supporters, and share proclamations issued by governmental entities.

Admission to the celebration is $10, inclusive of food, and the event welcomes the entire community to join in commemorating The Arc Caddo-Bossier’s remarkable journey. With a legacy of serving over 500 families in Northwest Louisiana and providing employment opportunities for another 500 community members, The Arc Caddo-Bossier stands as a beacon of inclusivity and support.

The Arc Caddo-Bossier, a private, non-profit organization, has been a cornerstone of the Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding communities since its inception. Through a range of programs and services tailored for individuals of all ages with disabilities and their families, The Arc Caddo-Bossier continues to enrich lives and foster inclusivity.
