Broadmoor Neighborhood Association Gears Up for Informative Meeting
Shreveport, LA – As Shreveport residents prepare to cast their votes on the City’s capital improvements bond issue, Mayor Tom Arceneaux is set to address concerned citizens at the upcoming Broadmoor Neighborhood Association meeting on March 19th. The event, scheduled to take place at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, promises to shed light on the proposed $256 million investment in critical infrastructure projects.
The City Council’s recent decision to present the bond issue to voters on April 27th has sparked considerable discussion among residents. The comprehensive package earmarks funds for essential areas such as streets and drainage projects, public safety facilities, and water and sewerage improvements. With $124 million dedicated to addressing pressing issues like road maintenance and flood prevention, $49 million allocated for enhancing police and fire services, and $82 million designated for upgrading water and sewer systems, the bond issue reflects a concerted effort to address longstanding community needs.
These plans have been meticulously crafted by City department heads in collaboration with a citizens’ capital improvements committee, appointed by Mayor Arceneaux and the City Council last summer. The inclusion of diverse perspectives ensures that the proposed projects align with the community’s priorities and address critical infrastructure deficiencies.
The Broadmoor Neighborhood Association meeting will provide an invaluable opportunity for residents to gain insights into the proposed bond issue directly from Mayor Arceneaux. Beginning with refreshments at 6 p.m., the event will feature a comprehensive program starting at 6:30 p.m. Attendees can expect a detailed overview of the bond issue, including its scope, objectives, and anticipated impact on the broader Shreveport community.
In addition to Mayor Arceneaux’s address, BNA President Bonita Crawford will offer a glimpse into the upcoming “Broadmoor 100” celebration slated for Saturday, April 20th, at A.C. Steere Park. This community event, marking Broadmoor’s centennial, promises a day filled with historical presentations, musical performances, food trucks, and local business showcases. The “Broadmoor 100” celebration underscores the neighborhood’s rich heritage and vibrant community spirit.
