Cuban Liquor Raises $36,000 for Students through Charity Bourbon Raffle

by BIZ Magazine

Cuban Liquor, a locally owned retailer specializing in fine spirits and gourmet foods, recently announced the successful outcome of its charity bourbon raffle, which raised an impressive $36,000 for the Volunteers of America North Louisiana’s Communities In Schools program.

The initiative, spearheaded by Cuban Liquor, aimed to support thousands of students in the community, from kindergarten to high school, by providing wrap-around services to empower them to succeed academically and in life.

The raffle featured rare and highly sought-after bourbons, including Pappy Van Winkle, the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, Blanton’s, Weller, and more. Customers eagerly purchased $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win the opportunity to purchase these coveted bottles at retail pricing.

Grant Nuckolls, co-owner of Cuban Liquor, emphasized the importance of providing fair access to limited bourbon releases without imposing inflated secondary market prices. “For over a year, we planned this raffle, collecting 150 allocated and rare bourbons. We are committed to selling these products at normal retail pricing, with no so-called ‘secondary’ markups,” stated Nuckolls.

The raffle drew considerable attention, with customers showing overwhelming support for the initiative. Andrew Crawford, co-owner of Cuban Liquor, expressed gratitude for the community’s response. “We were blown away by the response of our customers, and we are so thankful we could raise this money for VOA,” said Crawford.

Carolyn Hammond, president and CEO of Volunteers of America North Louisiana, extended her appreciation to Cuban Liquor and its patrons for their generosity. “Your contribution has made such a meaningful difference in the lives of students we serve,” remarked Hammond.

Cuban Liquor, located at 928 Pierremont Rd, continues to serve the community with its wide selection of products.
