Trey Boudreaux, Executive Director of the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System (LASERS), will address members of the Shreveport chapter of the Retired State Employees Association (RSEA) on Tuesday, March 5th, at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will take place at the Northwest Technical College, Building E, located at 2011 North Market Street, Shreveport.

Active state employees and retirees from Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Red River, and Webster parishes are expected to attend the event.

Boudreaux’s presentation will cover current issues impacting state employees’ and retirees’ pension benefits, offering insights into the upcoming Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Attendees can expect updates on various important topics relevant to their retirement plans. Boudreaux and additional LASERS staff will be available for interviews before and after the presentation.

In the Shreveport RSEA chapter region alone, LASERS serves 4,082 retirees and beneficiaries, disbursing over $105 million in gross retirement benefits during the fiscal year 2023.

LASERS manages a defined benefit pension plan that encompasses approximately 100,000 members. The system boasts a total market value of assets amounting to $14.5 billion. Furthermore, LASERS significantly contributes to Louisiana’s economy by disbursing over $1 billion in annual benefits to beneficiaries, serving as a robust and reliable economic stimulus for the state.

The presentation aims to keep retirees and active employees informed about the status of their pension benefits and the broader landscape of retirement planning in Louisiana.
