In a celebration of female leadership and empowerment, the Universities of Louisiana For Our Future Conference is set to expand with a pre-conference day focused on women leadership. The inaugural event, titled For Our Future Conference: Leading Women, aims to bring together professionals from higher education and beyond for networking, insightful discussions, and inspiration.
The highlight of Leading Women will be a conversation between two prominent Louisiana leaders—Congresswoman Julia Letlow and Mrs. Gayle Benson. Both women will share their personal and professional journeys, offering valuable insights into navigating and succeeding in traditionally male-dominated spaces.
Congresswoman Julia Letlow, representing Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, holds the distinction of being the state’s first Republican woman elected to Congress. Following a special election in April 2021, she made history by securing a decisive victory after her husband, Luke Letlow, tragically passed away from COVID-19 complications just before assuming office. Her remarkable journey underscores the resilience and determination of female leaders in Louisiana.
Mrs. Gayle Benson, renowned for her leadership roles with the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans, brings a wealth of experience and influence to the discussion. Succeeding her late husband, Tom Benson, as the owner of both sports franchises, Mrs. Benson has demonstrated exceptional business acumen and unwavering commitment to community engagement and philanthropy.
