Storment Technology Center Unveiled at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, Enhancing Patient Support

by BIZ Magazine

Shreveport, LA – In a significant stride towards enhancing patient care and support, the Storment Technology Center at Ochsner LSU Health – Feist-Weiller Cancer Center was officially inaugurated today. This state-of-the-art technology hub aims to empower cancer patients with online access to crucial information pertaining to their diagnosis and treatment journey.

The establishment of the technology center was made possible through a generous contribution from Dr. John Storment, who sought to honor his late father, Lt. Col. John Worrell Storment, a former patient of the cancer center’s Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. Reflecting on his father’s legacy, Dr. Storment expressed, “My father always took time to explain difficult things in a simple way. This center exemplifies his life by helping cancer patients better understand their disease and navigate their journey.”

Situated on the main floor of the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, the Storment Technology Center boasts an array of cutting-edge amenities aimed at facilitating patient education and empowerment. Among its key features are permanently mounted iPads, providing patients with convenient access to a wealth of resources related to their cancer treatment. Patients can leverage these tablets to conduct research on various aspects of their diagnosis and explore information pertinent to their care.

Speaking on the significance of this initiative, Corwin Harper, Chief Executive Officer for Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana, remarked, “The Storment Technology Center is an innovative addition that will help our cancer patients to discover more about their diagnoses and treatment.” Harper emphasized the transformative impact this center will have on patient care, particularly for those who may lack access to such technology-enabled resources.

Dr. John Storment, a distinguished 1992 graduate of LSU Health Shreveport and a fertility specialist with clinics across Louisiana, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful endeavor. “I am proud to support the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center and its mission to provide exceptional care to cancer patients,” said Dr. Storment.
