United Way Celebrates Community Impact with Tails & Ales Gala

by David Specht

United Way of Northwest Louisiana (UWNWLA) is gearing up for Tails & Ales: A Celebration of Impact, an evening of recognition, festivities, and philanthropy to be held at Paradise Theater inside Margaritaville Resort Casino from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on March 7.

Presented by Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City, Tails & Ales is a tribute to the companies and donors who played pivotal roles in making 2023 a successful year for UWNWLA. The event will showcase fundraising achievements, community impact results, and extend gratitude to the organization’s supporters.

Guests attending Tails & Ales can look forward to a vibrant celebration featuring a seafood boil, live music by Professor Porkchop and the Dirty Dishes, craft ales from the Seventh Tap and Great Raft Brewery, cornhole games, raffle prizes, and award ceremonies recognizing top supporters. The event is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Raymond James, Prolec Energy, ANECA Federal Credit Union, and Frymaster.

Individual tickets for Tails & Ales are available at $50 each, offering access to a shrimp and crawfish buffet or a burger bar, along with complimentary beer and wine. Proceeds from ticket sales and raffle purchases will contribute to UWNWLA’s ongoing initiatives, impacting the lives of over 100,000 individuals annually.

UWNWLA President & CEO LaToria W. Thomas expressed gratitude to supporters, stating, “Every year, we have amazing supporters that donate their time, talent, and dollars to helping our organization and community thrive. We look forward to this annual event as it’s an opportunity for us to properly thank and honor approximately 100 partner companies that bring success to our jobs, organization, and, most importantly, the community.”

During the gala, UWNWLA will present annual awards, including the prestigious Clyde E. Fant Memorial Award. This award recognizes individuals contributing significantly to the community and UWNWLA through leadership, campaign efforts, or other volunteer contributions. The 2024 honorees are Grant Nuckolls and Andrew Crawford, co-owners of Cuban Liquor. The Clyde E. Fant Memorial Award, presented since 1949, has previously honored community luminaries like Virginia K. Shehee (1975), Mary Ann Selber (2001), and Jaf Fielder (2023).

To attend Tails & Ales and support UWNWLA’s mission, tickets can be purchased at https://unitedwaynwla.org/tails-ales/.
