“Living the Unknown” Exhibition Explores Immigration Challenges through Art

The Shreveport Regional Arts Council is set to host “Living the Unknown,” an art exhibition curated by Iranian-born artist Sara Rastegar. The exhibition aims to delve into the challenges and courage associated with immigration, inviting viewers to explore the unknown through diverse artistic mediums.

Sara Rastegar, known for her interdisciplinary practices in Installation Art, Sculpture, Photography, and Printmaking, will be joined by fellow Iranian artists Nida Bangash and Fatemeh Hosseini. Together, they will present an array of artworks crafted from materials such as glass, bronze, plaster, wood, concrete, and prints. The intention is to engage the senses and provoke contemplation on the immigration experience.

The exhibition is scheduled to open on Friday, January 26, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at artspace in downtown Shreveport. The opening event will feature Middle Eastern Bites by FLAMES and is free and open to the public.

As part of the exhibition, the three artists, Sara Rastegar, Nida Bangash, and Fatemeh Hosseini, will participate in an Artists’ Talk on Saturday, January 27, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at artspace. This session will provide an opportunity for attendees to gain insights into the artists’ inspirations, creative processes, and perspectives on the immigration journey.

The “Living the Unknown” exhibition promises a unique and immersive experience, shedding light on the complex and courageous nature of immigration. Through their art, the artists aim to foster understanding and appreciation for the challenges faced by those who choose to explore the unknown in pursuit of a better life.
