The Commission for Women of Bossier City is proud to announce the upcoming Inspiring Women Week (IWW) events, scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 5, 2024. This annual initiative aims to celebrate and empower women while focusing on a critical theme – Aging in the Ark-La-Tex: Impact of an Aging Society.
The events will kick off with a breakfast on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Margaritaville’s Bird of Paradise Room. Sgt. Tina Fruge will be the featured speaker, addressing fraud alerts and current scams targeting seniors. Doors will open at 7:00 a.m. for the breakfast event.
The signature luncheon of IWW is scheduled for March 5, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bossier Civic Center. This event will feature a distinguished guest panel discussing the Impact of an Aging Society in the Ark-La-Tex. The panel will include The Honorable Judge Jeff Cox, Tamara Crane (Executive Director – Bossier Council on Aging), Paulette Freeman (Executive Director – The Bridge Alzheimer & Dementia Resource Center), and Sandra Franks (United States Air Force Veteran, President of Women Veterans of the Ark-La-Tex, and Commissioner on the Louisiana Governors Commission for Veterans Affairs).
Individual tickets, tables of eight, and sponsorships for both events are available for purchase, and the general public, as well as businesses, are encouraged to participate. Tickets and sponsorships can be acquired by contacting a commissioner or visiting the Commission for Women of Bossier City’s Facebook page at Commission for Women of Bossier City Facebook Page.
Proceeds from both events will be dedicated to supporting two non-profit organizations working directly with the aging population – The Bossier Council on Aging and The Bridge Alzheimer & Dementia Resource Center.
