WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has welcomed Stephen Waguespack, a seasoned pro-business advocate, as Special Counsel. Waguespack will collaborate with the Chamber’s leadership on specialized projects related to his extensive expertise, spanning energy, insurance, legal reform, workforce development, small business matters, and state-level advocacy.

Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber, expressed the significance of Waguespack’s addition, stating, “Stephen is joining the Chamber at a very important time for the American business community and the nation overall. His legal, policy, and grassroots expertise and relationships on Capitol Hill, in the states, and with some of America’s biggest and smallest companies, are a tremendous asset.”

Neil Bradley, the Chamber’s Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer, commended Waguespack’s policy and political acumen, emphasizing the need for expertise as businesses face regulatory challenges and policy uncertainties.

Before joining the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Waguespack served as the president and CEO of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), the state’s largest and most effective business advocacy group. He also held positions on the staff of U.S. Representative Joe Barton, worked in the administration of former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and was an attorney at Jones Walker LLP. Additionally, Waguespack ran as a Republican candidate for Governor of Louisiana in 2023.

Waguespack’s extensive background and leadership roles make him a valuable addition to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and his appointment comes at a crucial time as the organization actively defends the American free enterprise system.

Waguespack holds a J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Louisiana State University.
