Johnson criticizes Biden amnesty initiative

by BIZ Magazine

BENTON, LA — Speaker of The House Mike Johnson criticized the Biden Administration’s focus on amnesty amid the ongoing border crisis in a statement last week, responding to the Mexico-U.S. Joint Communique detailing a meeting between Secretary of State Blinken, Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas, and Mexican President López Obrador.

According to the Communique, the delegation “discussed the benefit of regularizing the situation of long-term undocumented Hispanic migrants and DACA recipients, who are a vital part of the U.S. economy and society.”

Speaker Johnson expressed his concerns, stating, “At a time when America is grappling with the worst border crisis in our nation’s history, it is unconscionable to hear the Biden Administration’s announcement that Secretaries Mayorkas and Blinken discussed amnesty for illegal immigrants with the President of Mexico. The United States must focus on policies that deter, not attract, individuals attempting to enter illegally, along with the smugglers who profit from the crisis at our border.

“This development further underscores the Administration’s lack of genuine intent to address the humanitarian disaster and immediate national security crisis resulting from their policies. President Biden must cease vacationing and take immediate action to halt the influx of illegal immigration into our country. Our nation’s security and sovereignty depend on it, and the American people demand swift intervention.”
