A simple question, “How can we help?”, prompted Eugene Enevoldson of Cypress Solar and Roofing, a veteran-owned local contractor, to sponsor a golf tournament in the heat of July to raise funds for a new roof on the Education Center at Providence House.
Partnering with Owens Corning and Beacon Roofing Supply, the Cypress Solar and Roofing team is scheduled to install the new roof Friday, Aug. 25, 2023.
“Once we learned Providence House’s Education Center needed a new roof, we knew we wanted to help the best way we know how,” shared Enevoldson. “We understand the impact that education has on helping homeless families achieve self-sufficiency. We could not in good conscience leave the roof in disrepair knowing the domino effect it could have on the rest of the structure and, therefore, on these parents who are working so hard to do better for their children.
Enevoldsonn continued, “Homeless families with children begin their journey home at Providence House. When they leave, they take with them an education, job skills, financial literacy, parenting skills, and employment. All of this improves the landscape of neighborhoods in Shreveport-Bossier and the area as a whole.”
Verni Howard, Executive Director at Providence House, states, “The local community has embraced Providence House and its families since its beginning 35 years ago. Businesses, civic organizations, churches, families, and individuals reach out daily to offer assistance. Kindness is, of course, at the center of charity, but our supporters also understand their contributions provide an important return on investment for our community.”
