United Way opens project submissions for Day of Caring 2023

by BIZ Magazine

United Way of Northwest Louisiana (UWNWLA) is now accepting project submissions from local nonprofit agencies for its largest, community-wide volunteer event of the year, Day of Caring. Day of Caring is tentatively scheduled for April 28, 2023, with more than 600 volunteers from local businesses in attendance who are committed to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work.

During Day of Caring, a volunteer team of 5-15 people is partnered with a nonprofit agency to complete a project that the organization may not have the manpower or financial resources to hire outside help to complete. That’s where volunteers come in; UWNWLA will recruit, organize, and prepare volunteers at no expense to the nonprofits.

“We are thrilled to be accepting nonprofit projects again after two years of adapting Day of Caring around COVID-19,” said UWNWLA President & CEO LaToria Thomas. “Our nonprofit and local business partners look forward to this impactful event every year as it fills a need and creates excitement around volunteering.”

For agencies that do not have a project to submit but would still like to participate in Day of Caring, UWNWLA is coordinating several projects. These projects include the creation or maintenance of community gardens, the installation of Born Learning Trails at local schools and parks, community clean-ups, and an emergency hygiene kit packing project.

Nonprofit agencies are encouraged to send their project submissions soon, as limited space is available. Nonprofit project coordinators will receive correspondence from UWNWLA Director of Community Impact Raavin Evans no later than Tuesday, January 31, 2023. For any questions, please email Raavin at [email protected]. Projects can be submitted here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdH-lCSgUGcbRxsl4wYwORvH-tX-bBpn-fZ9jBB01VhiU1FaQ/viewform
