A new grocery store chain is planning to open a store in Shreveport.
Aldi grocery store has submitted a plan for a 19,000-plus square-foot store in southwest Shreveport .It will be located in the 9500 block of Mansfield Road south of Baird Road.
The site plan has been submitted and approved by the Shreveport-Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission.

The move comes as the Aldi chain is expanding to open stores in Louisiana. Other sites include Lafayette, New Iberia, LaPlace, Baton Rouge and Slidell. The company plans to open about 150 new stories in total this year.
Aldi corporate communications estimate it will become the third largest grocery chain in the nation behind Kroger and Albertsons.
