Gov. John Bel Edwards and CISA Director Jen Easterly to announce CYBER.ORG Range

by BIZ Magazine

Alongside the Governor of Louisiana John Bel Edwards and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Jen Easterly, CYBER.ORG – an initiative of the Cyber Innovation Center (CIC) – will announce the launch of a Louisiana-funded CYBER.ORG Range Monday, Nov. 7 at Cyber Innovation Center designed to train the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

The event will be live streamed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGdZoSuPirg

In collaboration with CISA, the CYBER.ORG Range can be deployed by K-12 educators (with an emphasis on those teaching high school) to help students gain hands-on knowledge of cybersecurity using real-world tools with common cyber-attacks and learn how to defend against them. Press conference attendees will have the opportunity to test out the CYBER.ORG Range through live demonstrations.

As the nation confronts a shortage of over 750,000 cybersecurity professionals amidst increased threats from cyber adversaries, there is an urgent need to invest in the future cybersecurity workforce. The CYBER.ORG Range will help K-12 students build cybersecurity skills through critical free resources and encourage them to join the cybersecurity field while building educator confidence in teaching cybersecurity.

Building a qualified and diverse talent pipeline means ensuring that all students – even as young as kindergarten – are cyber literate. This initiative supports CISA’s mission to help close the national cybersecurity workforce gap and bolster U.S. national security. The expansion of the CYBER.ORG Range is critical to prepare the next generation of cybersecurity professionals for the challenges of tomorrow.
