Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation will announce grant to address regional nursing shortage

NATCHITOCHES – The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation will announce a significant multi-year grant to be awarded to Northwestern State University that will help fill critical roles in northwest and Central Louisiana’s rapidly shrinking healthcare workforce.

Administrators will make a presentation at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 in Orville Hanchey Gallery, Creative and Performing Arts Center, 140 Central Drive, on the NSU campus.

The grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation will enhance programming at NSU with the goal of adding 300 nurses to the workforce in the next four years, and more than 1,000 nurses by 2032.  Partners include Christus Bossier Emergency Hospital, Christus Coushatta Health Care Center, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, Christus Highland Medical Center, Christus St. Frances Cabrini, RoyOMartin, Rapides Regional Medical Center, Willis-Knighton Health System and the NSU Foundation.
