While the Greater Shreveport Chamber does not take a position on candidates for office, we believe that an informed and educated electorate is vital to the robust exercise of our democracy.
Therefore, we are embarking on our Election Education Initiative, “Your Shreveport Your Vote” to enable our member businesses and the voting public to base their voting decisions on information provided directly from the candidates.
The Initiative includes individual interviews with candidates for Mayor, City Council and School Board as well as our Mayoral Forum Series.
Individual video interviews are underway now with all confirmed candidates in all contested races. Once complete, all interviews will be posted to our YouTube Channel.
In addition to these interviews, we are also partnering with the three largest TV stations in our area, KSLA, KTAL, KTBS and three of our local universities Centenary College, LSUS and SUSLA to host a series of Mayoral Forums in mid-October.
These Forums will be broadcast live on three successive evenings. This format will allow us to center each night around a different topic: Public Safety, Economic Development and Infrastructure.??By focusing on a specific topic at each Forum, the candidates will have more of an opportunity to tell us their specific plans for our City in these three key areas.
