Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation (SPAR) has kicked off its Summer Camp registration. It is free to the public however, registration is required. The Summer Camp program will take place from June 6 to July 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is for ages 6-17. SPAR Summer Camp provides a safe haven for fun, games, and field trips. Registration will remain open until all campsites are full.

Kenneth Cornelius, Division Manager of Recreation for SPAR, says their summer camps offer a safe and fun-filled environment for kids. They will keep the kids active and moving in all of the right directions!

“Our summer camps are second to none. The kids will really enjoy their time with SPAR.”

Parents can expect their kids to have a blast at SPAR Summer Camp. They’ll be engaged in fun activities like sports, arts and crafts, games, singing, and dancing! It’s a great way to keep the kids active during the summer by providing them with a safe place to play and have fun.

In addition to the Summer Camp program, SPAR will open its splash pads on May 1st. They will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and water shoes are recommended.

“The splash pads are a great, safe, cool and refreshing way for those kids who may not know how to swim to still experience a fun summer. Also for those sites that don’t have a pool, the splash pads are a great substitute.”

SPAR offers six splash pads. They are located at Airport Park, David Raines, Hattie Perry, Lakeside and Querbes Community Centers, as well as the “Purple Park” at A.C. Steere. They have become a very popular attraction, especially for kids in the summertime, offering a break from the sweltering Louisiana heat. The cool spray of the water lowers the body temperature and gives the kiddos a fun activity to do all summer long! The Spray Parks are open from May 1st to Oct. 1st.

Some SPAR sites also have pools. Five SPAR pools will be open to the public from June 28 to July 28. After July 28, Southern Hills pool will be open on weekends only through Labor Day (Monday, September 2) from 1-5 p.m. You can find the full pool schedule with locations on the SPAR website
