Redistricting is focus of Broadmoor Neighborhood meeting Tuesday

State Sen. Barrow Peacock and State Rep. Thomas Pressly will discuss the upcoming legislative session on redistricting at the January 18th meeting of the Broadmoor Neighborhood Association of Shreveport.

Every 10 years, following completion of the U.S. Census, the Louisiana Legislature meets in special session to draw boundaries of Louisiana election districts.

Affected political bodies are the state House and Senate, U.S. Congress, Public Service Commission, Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and state Supreme Court.

This year’s redistricting session, based on the 2020 Census, is scheduled February 1-20 in Baton Rouge.

Peacock’s Senate District 37 and Pressly’s House District 6 both encompass portions of southeast Shreveport, including Broadmoor, and south Bossier City.

The BNA meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. January 18 in the gymnasium of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 1915 Grover Place.
