LSUS Faculty and Staff members serve as key roles for ‘The Lonesome West’ at Shreveport Little Theatre

LSU Shreveport’s Robert Alford II, Laura Beeman Nugent, and Mary Jarzabek are behind the curtain for Shreveport Little Theatre (SLT)’s presentation of The Lonesome West, a play by Martin McDonagh. Showtimes are January 7 and 8, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. and January 9, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the SLT and Academy in Shreveport.

Alford, Beeman Nugent, and Jarzabek are leading the production as director, choreographer, and special costume designer, respectively. The three not only lead in the theatre, but they also have significant roles on the LSUS campus.

Alford is an associate professor for the Department of Arts and Media, and Beeman Nugent is the Director of Recruitment. Jarzabek has two roles, one as an instructor for the Department of Arts and Media, and the other as the Director of General Studies.

The production is part of SLT’s 100th season and McDonagh’s Connemara trilogy with The Beauty of Queen of Leenane and A Skull in Connemara as the other two installations. Set in Leenane, Ireland, The Lonesome West is a comedy about two perpetually feuding brothers who live together in their late father’s home.
