BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending September 4, 2021 rose to 9,724 from the week ending August 28, 2021 total of 2,060. For a comparison, during the week ending September 5, 2020, 24,566 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 4,083 from the previous week’s average of 2,255.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending September 4, 2021 decreased to 33,598 from the week ending August 28, 2021 total of 35,659. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 256,184 for the week ending September 5, 2020.
The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 36,751 from the previous week’s average of 39,350.
