Sportran Intermodal Terminal Operations temporarily relocate due to road construction

by BIZ Magazine

Road construction is currently underway around and adjacent to the SporTran Intermodal Terminal at 1237 Murphy Street in Shreveport. Beginning Monday, August 16, most bus access to the Intermodal Terminal will be shut down as construction begins on Winston Street.

porTran and Amtrak bus operations will be temporarily moved to the SporTran Intermodal Parking Lot next door (Corner of Murphy and Texas Streets.) Greyhound service will continue at the Intermodal Terminal building.

The Intermodal Parking Lot will close to the public Monday, August 9, to prepare it for public transit service. Only SporTran vehicles and personnel will be admitted until the road construction is complete. Signage will be installed directing citizens to park across Texas Street at the Sun Furniture warehouse building to access Intermodal and/or City Courts. In addition, bus lanes will be set up, bay/route signs will be added, and tents will be erected to protect riders from inclement weather.

Once bus service begins in the Intermodal Parking Lot Monday, August 16, SporTran staff will be on-hand to help riders navigate the new temporary operations area. Construction is expected to last approximately four weeks.
