Each year the Greater Shreveport Chamber hosts the J. Pat Beaird Industry of the Year awards, with the support of our sponsors, Regions Bank, Chase Bank, the J. Pat Beaird Memorial Fund and 318Forum.

This year’s event will be held at 11:30AM on September 23, 2021, at Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino.

“The Chamber is delighted to award our Industry of the Year Award this year to Vintage Realty,” affirmed Dr. Timothy Magner, Greater Shreveport Chamber president. “A longtime developer and property manager, Vintage has been a leader in helping to transform residential and commercial real estate across the Ark-La-Tex. Their business leadership is matched by their engagement, sponsorships and overall contribution to our community.”

Alvin Childs, Jr. and David Alexander are the principal partners of the organization and began Vintage Realty Company in 1988 to meet the demands of the expanding commercial real estate market in Shreveport, Louisiana. Since that time, Vintage has established a strong foothold in eight additional markets.

Vintage currently manages over 70 properties, representing a total portfolio of over 5,500,000 square feet. Office space constitutes a large component of the company’s managed properties while Class A multi-family development representing Vintage’s largest capital outlay program.

The Multi-family Department was created in 1993 as a response to a client request for development of a Class A apartment community in Shreveport. Since that initial development Vintage Realty has either acquired or developed twelve more Class A communities in Louisiana and Arkansas. Vintage has enjoyed a reputation as one of the most progressive and dynamic apartment management firms in the region.

Vintage has over 150 employees and maintains a corporate office in Shreveport, Louisiana with additional offices located throughout Louisiana and Texas.

The J. Pat Beaird Memorial Industry of the Year award pays tribute to the memory of J. Pat Beaird, who devoted his life to community service, and helped make Shreveport and the State of Louisiana a more wonderful place to live and work. Beaird was the driving force behind many operations and organizations in our region. He was an active member of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the Industrial Development Council in the 1940s and was instrumental in many initiatives that shaped northwest Louisiana.

The award presentation will conclude with “Who Stands Beside You: The Untold Story of My Lost Brothers” keynote speaker, Brendan McDonough. His extraordinary story of recovery, bravery, and redemption will leave you uplifted and encouraged to become your best self.

McDonough is the sole survivor of Yarnell Hill Wildfire’s 3,000-degree inferno that created an unfathomable loss. The relentless firestorm ultimately trapped his hotshot brothers, tragically killing 19 of them within minutes. Nationwide, it was the greatest loss of firefighter lives since the 9/11 attacks.

His story came to the silver screen in October 2017 with the release of Only the Brave, starring Miles Teller as McDonough. The story is also featured in McDonough’s book “My Lost Brothers.”
