LSU Shreveport has been awarded the #1 Best in Louisiana Offering Graphic Design Programs designation in the PLEXUSS Global Rankings. The PLEXUSS Global Rankings, which evaluates programs based on student demand and preferences, were developed with extensive input from education partners, data scientists, employers, parents, and high school counselors for prospective students to evaluate postsecondary options.
PLEXUSS aims to supplement the college search experience by conveniently gathering rankings from several sources whom they consider to be the most reputable. They utilize this data to create their own ranking system which is essentially a summary that reveals what most ranking systems agree on in hopes to take all college characteristics that students and higher education experts care about into account.
Graphic Design is offered through the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Arts. The program offers variable learning opportunities including game design, graphic design, animation, corporate identity campaigns, and more. The curriculum includes a selection of courses that lead to a better understanding of the role of art in human history; a basic knowledge of visual principles, media, and techniques utilized in digital and studio practices; and ample electives in digital art to enable the student, with faculty guidance, to select a digital area for advanced creative work. The department also sponsors student organizations in animation and advertising design, including competitions with other colleges.
“The Digital Arts Program at LSU Shreveport excels at preparing our students to enter the world of digital arts,” Department of Arts and Media Chair Jason Mackowiak said. “We do so by teaching industry-standard software while assigning creative real-world projects.”
