Brent Mills named CEO of Encompass Health’s future inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Shreveport

Brent Mills has been named CEO of Encompass Health’s future inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Shreveport. The 40-bed hospital, which is under construction on Millicent Way, is expected to begin caring for patients in the summer of 2021.

Mills, who assumed the position on Dec. 7, 2020, will be responsible for overseeing the future hospital’s day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality. The hospital will provide 24-hour nursing care and physical, occupational and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and complex orthopedic conditions.

Mills has dedicated his entire, 23-year career to healthcare and brings operational experience in acute care, ambulatory surgical care, imaging and inpatient surgery to his role. Most recently, he served as the chief operating officer for Parkhill Health in Dallas, Texas.

“We’re excited to welcome Brent to the Encompass Health network as CEO of our future hospital in Shreveport,” said Brad Kennedy, president of Encompass Health’s southwest region. “Under his leadership, our team will help patients heal and find hope again through inpatient rehabilitative services customized for their needs and goals.”

A proven healthcare leader, Mills completed his bachelor’s degree of science in business management and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
