Great Raft’s Barksdale Bubble Honors Area Service Men and Women

In honor of Veterans Day, Great Raft Brewing is proud to announce a new beer created to pay homage to the service men and women of Barksdale Air Force Base. Barksdale Bubble will be released on Wednesday, November 11. The double dry hopped oat IPA features a special Veterans Blend of hops from Yakima Chief Hops.

Each year, Yakima Chief produces a special hop blend to honor the veterans of our nation’s armed services. Veterans involved in the brewing industry are invited to collaborate with the company to choose the blend of hops. This year’s blend includes five varieties of hops grown in the Pacific Northwest, including Idaho 7, HBC 692, Sabro, Mosaic, and HBC 630.

In addition to involving veterans in the hop selection process, Yakima Chief also partners with a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the veteran community. This year, a portion of the proceeds from each Veterans Blend purchase will be donated to the Gary Sinise Foundation, whose mission is to serve our nation and honor our veterans, first responders, their families and those in need by providing programming designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen and build communities.

“It’s been an extremely tumultuous year, and the team here at Great Raft wanted to do something fun to show our love for our community. The Barksdale Bubble is one of those local phenomena that everyone in Shreveport-Bossier can appreciate” said Brunson Cartwright, Operations Manager of Great Raft Brewing. “Using the Veterans Blend hops in a beer that’s a tribute to our local Air Force community seemed like a natural choice. We’re proud that our choice supports the Gary Sinise Foundation and our nation’s veterans.”
