Daryl Marx, MD, Establishes WK Minimally Invasive Surgery Center

Surgeon Daryl Marx, MD, FACS, FASMBS, who specializes in general, bariatric and robotic-assisted surgery, has joined the Willis-Knighton Physician Network and established WK Minimally Invasive Surgery Center. Dr. Marx is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and board certified by the American College of Surgeons.  He is also a fellow in the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons.

As an experienced surgeon in minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Marx has focused on state-of-the-art robotic surgery with the da Vinci Surgical System. This allows him to perform complicated surgical procedures with a degree of precision, control and dexterity that traditional surgery cannot match. He has performed approximately 3,000 robotic surgeries since April 2012 and trains and proctors other surgeons in robotics.

Dr. Marx grew up in Monroe and graduated from a pre-med program at Northeast Louisiana University, where he also earned a master’s degree in biochemistry.  He received a Doctor of Medicine degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and continued his surgical internship and residence there, graduating in 2003. Following graduation he completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center and Willis-Knighton Health System. While studying in Shreveport, he was mentored by Dr. Bill Norwood, who urged him to return to Shreveport. He is welcoming Dr. Norwood’s former patients to call if they need surgical attention.

Dr. Marx says the reward of his practice is “the joy of seeing people get back out there in their lives like they never had anything done. It’s like the Boy Scouts. Leave it better than you found it,” he says. “Care of the patients and the utmost sensitivity to their problems is first for me. My job is to listen to the patient, make a diagnosis and provide an operative intervention that is not only state-of-the-art, but is handled with the professionalism and the sincerity that you would expect.”

WK Minimally Invasive Surgery Center is on the campus of Willis-Knighton Medical Center in the Diagnostic & Surgical Building, 2751 Albert L. Bicknell Drive, in Shreveport.

Dr.  Marx welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
