LSU-S emerges as fastest growing higher education institution in state

Shreveport, LA – Louisiana State University in Shreveport is now the fastest growing higher education institution in Louisiana in the last five years. The university boasts the largest freshman class in five years and the largest number of retained students in five years.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, LSUS’s fall enrollment is 9,877 students strong, a 16 percent increase over fall 2019 enrollment. In addition, graduate student enrollment nearly doubled compared to the same time in 2019, with 3,182 new graduate students entering LSUS this fall.

“The enrollment numbers reflect the amazing team effort of everyone at the university this past year. I’m proud of the adaptability and work ethic of everyone who has made this happen under the challenging circumstances created by the coronavirus,” Dr. Julie Lessiter, Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives said. “As the fastest growing institution in the state, we will continue to build on our momentum to provide first-class opportunities for students to excel in both career and life.”
