Thursday, the Executive Committee of the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) announced its recommendation that the full body endorse Mayor Adrian Perkins for U.S. Senate. Mayor Perkins is running against incumbent Dr. Bill Cassidy.

The Executive Committee made this recommendation after extensive interviews with Democratic candidates for Senate. The full DSCC will vote on endorsements in the coming weeks.

“Louisianans are ready for new leadership, and Mayor Perkins is ready to answer that call,” Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, Chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party said. “Since announcing his candidacy, Mayor Perkins hit the ground running – hiring an impressive team, making investments, fundraising, announcing endorsements, and building a coalition of grassroots supporters. He’s in a strong position ahead of November and taking the aggressive steps necessary to win a competitive Senate race.

“During this health and economic crisis, it’s never been more critical to unseat Cassidy and elect a leader that will stand up for the people of Louisiana. That’s the common goal we’re fighting for as Louisiana Democrats. As Mayor of Shreveport, Adrian sees every day what Louisiana families are going through and knows the importance of protecting health care and getting our state the resources it needs. Mayor Perkins has the passion and support to win this seat and we’re proud to recommend his endorsement to the full body of the DSCC.”
