Bossier Business Spotlights: Businesses pivot to change delivery, services offered

by BIZ Magazine

Many Bossier City businesses have made changes to their services and methods of delivering those services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the end of social distancing being uncertain, outdoor activities like drive-in movies are getting lots of attention. Risen Rock Climbing Gym began offering drive-in movies at their location a few weeks ago, providing the service by donation only. You can complete the movie experience with refreshments or utilizing the gym’s portable climbing wall outside.

Silver Star Smokehouse made a Facebook announcement and has hung signs on their location in North Bossier about their upcoming drive-in movie venture – The Grove.

BeauxJax Crafthouse, including 2019 Bossier Chamber Business Person of the Year and co-owner Beau Hays, have taken hard circumstances and turned them into an opportunity to serve the community, raising $22,000 to feed 200+ hospital wings, creating king cake grams to deliver king cake and words of encouragement to people during the Stay-at-Home orders as well as feeding 1,520 healthcare workers during their Feed the Frontline campaign. BeauxJax is currently also feeding the activated National Guardsmen activated within our community.

Now, the business is “adopting” other small businesses to help them stay alive and pay their bills during the pandemic. If that wasn’t enough, BeauxJax will begin offering watch parties for Simple Church services.

The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau is launching a new advertising campaign called “Press Play” to attract visitors back to our community this summer. Their priority is to help tourism partners recover from their financial losses during the stay at home order.

SBCTB will host a “Press Play” webinar for industry partners, on Thursday, June 11 from 9-10 a.m., on Zoom. The webinar will update partners about the new “Press Play” campaign, provide some social media tips during the re-opening of their businesses, and to educate partners on how to participate in the campaign.
